Abstract
Sites 438 and 440 provide excellent Neogene radiolarian sections and may prove invaluable for correlation of radiolarian events to those of other fossil groups, especially diatoms. The zonation proposed in this report is developed basically from these sections. Site 440 is especially appropriate for the recognition of Pliocene to Pleistocene zones because this interval is represented by an expanded sedimentary section. The continuous section recovered at Site 438 makes it useful for the lower Miocene to Recent interval.-from Author
