Abstract

The mass media is a socializing agent of processes of identity redefinition. Here it is shown how certain content of telenovelas is re-signified and valued by indigenous university students, as well as the identification with it. Focus groups were organized, the results suggest that gender determines how the content of telenovelas is internalized and its link with the consciousness of being indigenous.
