Abstract

During their clinical practicum periods, students acquire practical skills and apply theoretical knowledge in real-life situations with patients. These learning experiences form an essential part of professional development. This chapter describes the role of the clinical practicum in healthcare education-especially in relation to students’ professional development. The chapter describes the main factors influencing this process and how it facilitates the building of professional identity.
