Abstract

A reaction coordinate (RC) that allows to study stability of charged clusters and monitor the process is proposed. For demonstration purposes, the RC is applied in the study of the fragmentation mechanism of droplets that contain a few hundred water molecules and 2Na+-Ca2+ or 4Cl-. The new RC can be used with theories of activated processes for reactions in condensed phase to describe fragmentation.
