Abstract

To know precisely the transient motion in a harbor maneuver , it is important not only to estimate individually the hydrodynamic coefficients of added mass forces etc . acting on ships but alsQ to reflect the influence of water depth and of ship type on the coefficients to maneuvering simulator convenient 正 y . In the previous paper , it has been demonstrated that a potential flow calculation method is available to estimate the added mass coefficients . The present work gives simplified formulas for the ratio Qf the added 皿 ass and moment of inertia in shallow water to in deep water at the base of the results of some series calculations . The simplified formulas are represented as follows . Kx ( Surge>,Ky ( Sway ) , K 。z ( Yaw ) = 1 十 α { 〔 P ' diH ) − 1 } Coefficients of α and β change accordi to the mode of ship nlotion and ship form coefficients such as draft − breadth ratio , the block coefficients , etc . In order to obtain the added mass etc . from the above formulas practically , authors also suggest the forrnulas for each coefficient of Surge , Sway and Yaw in deep water . The predicted results using the simplified formulas show good agreement with the computational results and experimental results ,
