Abstract

Fundamental organometallic reactions such as dissociative and associative ligand exchange processes, oxidative addition and reductive elimination are described. Importance of both steric and electronic effects of ligands on kinetic and thermodynamic stability of the metal-ligand bond is shown. Formality, mechanistic aspects, and trends of oxida-tive addition and reductive elimination involving bond cleavage and formation at transition metals are also described as important fundamental organometallic reactions.
