Abstract

Perceptual conflict and response competition interpretations of studies of color-word interference are briefly considered, and a study of the effect of semantic factors on color-word interference in a color comparison task is reported. It is concluded that the locus or interference is after, and not during, the processing of the word component of color-word stimuli. © 1972 Psychonomic Society, Inc.
