Multidrug-resistant acinetobacter baumannii infections in three returning travelers evacuated from Algeria, Thailand, and Turkey after hospitalization in local intensive care units

Abstract

We report three cases of returning travelers evacuated from Algeria, Thailand, and Turkey by aero-medical repatriation, following overseas hospitalization in local intensive care units for accidental injuries or medical problems. All three patients presented with imipenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii infections. One died whereas two recovered. © 2011 International Society of Travel Medicine.
