Abstract

In this paper, a short review on Zinc oxide nanoparticles (NPs) having wurtzite crystalline structure, synthesized using a range of precursors are discussed. The effect of reaction temperature, calcination, and nature of salt precursor used during synthesis, on the morphology and particle size of ZnO NPs are compared. It may be observed that a large scale of salt precursors e.g., Zinc Nitrate Hexahydrate/Tetrahydrate, Zinc Chloride, Zinc Acetate and Zinc Oxalate etc. are the potential candidates for synthesized ZnO NPs. Meanwhile, it has been observed that synchronization between particular salt precursor and synthesis approach lead to similar morphology. However, range of reaction parameters like temperature and pH etc., may influence the morphology of the ZnO NPs. Therefore the present review is an attempt, which may give a concise idea about the precursor to be used for generation of particular morphology.
