Abstract

Data from the site of the Tourbillon experiment in the north east Atlantic was modelled as a case of a vertical phase shift with time of an eddy in a stratified environment caused by internal barotropic instability. The results of the theoretical study of this situation (see companion paper) were compared with the Tourbillon data. A fairly realistic simulation could be obtained for an integration time of up to one month.
