Abstract

• A novel numerical approach has been proposed to retrieve the hydraulic transmissivity of elliptical rock fractures in triaxial shear-flow experiments. • The accuracy of different methods for estimation of hydraulic transmissivity of elliptical rock fractures has been evaluated and discussed. • The numerical approach and electrical analogy are recommended for accurate evaluation of hydraulic transmissivity of elliptical rock fractures.
