Abstract

In Education it is a key factor to know the psychological and neurocognitive variables that enhance the process of learning, and self-esteem is one of the most important, it is therefore essential to analyze the influences between self-esteem and learning. The aim of this paper is double: on the one hand, to analyze the hypothesis that a realistic or slightly positive self-esteem increases the learning, whereas a low self-esteem does not help. On the other hand, this study aim to verify whether the correlation between the self-esteem and the self-perception of the learning increases when it measure them in specific aspects. This relationship has been studied in a sample of 122 university students carrying out a cluster analysis, and applying a different way of measuring self-esteem. The results corroborate the hypothesis suggested, however the second objective is only partially confirmed. The analysis allows to suggest some ideas to improve the learning.
