Abstract

The authors have extended the analysis to three cases of practical interest. Consistent nondimensional characteristic equations are given for five cases of end fixity conditions. A comprehensive flow chart for a computer program which calculates effective lengths for any of the five cases is included. A summary of the characteristic equations for the stepped columns with the various end fixities is given.
