Abstract

The development of villages and the empowerment of rural populations are essential components in enhancing the welfare of Indonesian society overall. This study reveal that most rural development initiatives largely neglect community need and lack of involvement. This is evidenced by various factors that stakeholders with a vested interest in village development are unable to enhance social capital in their regions and stakeholders lack the competence to effectively interpret contemporary policies related to village development. This study uses a descriptive qualitative methodology, gathering primary data through interviews and focus group discussion and secondary data sourced from annual reports, mass media, and prior research. Therefore, this research suggests to the government that there needs to be a commitment and policy for sustainable development to ensure the success of village development.
