Por que o investimento e foco em questões habitacionais é também uma medida de saúde

Abstract

Living in precarious housing can be the cause or a social determinant of many physical and mental pathologies, something that is widespread in the technical and academic circles. However, even with scientific evidence and legal provisions, the study demonstrates that the legal framework of health in Brazil restricts or even prohibits the use of health resources in housing matters, delimits the composition of health teams to medical-hospital professions, as well as not considers the use of resources from other budgetary functions in housing provision for specific health purposes. The study proposes that, for situations with sufficient scientific evidence that determine the housing issue as a determinant of health, such prohibitions or delimitations should be removed.
