Abstract

It is shown that, if mechanical twinning and deformation faulting on the {112}〈111〉 orientation of the rolling texture component are prevented or nullified, such as by cross rolling, the resulting deformation texture is essentially the same for both high‐SFE (stacking‐fault energy) and low‐SFE metals. These observations are consistent with the mechanical twinning mechanism for rolling texture transition from the copper‐type to the brass‐type as proposed by Wassermann.
