Abstract

In the Latin American context, a growing number of projects have been observed to exhibit low efficiency, cost overruns, and frequent delays in public works. Accordingly, the objective of this study was to identify the benefits and strategies that can be applied through the use of BIM software to achieve improvements in the management and design of public projects. To this end, a theoretical review was conducted, making it possible to identify opportunities related to planning, quality, sustainability, and cost control through the use of this tool. In addition, contributions associated with process visibility and data presentation were also identified.
