Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to develop a reliable and valid scale to determine the level and extend of informal communication at schools. The sample for informal communication scale are all the teachers working in 25 primary schools and 10 secondary schools in Sivas chosen according to suitable sampling method, which is one of the random sampling methods. This study was conducted with 670 of 1120 teachers, who turned back and were available for data collection. Among the teachers 360 were men and 310 were women. As a result of exploratory factor analysis, informal communication was found about to have four factors. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, the sub factors were named as: “Friendship”, “Entertainment”, “Affecting” and “Information”, respectively. A reliable and valid scale has been developed in order to determine informal communication levels and to find out on which fields these levels intensify
