Abstract

The genus Paratymolus Miers, 1879, currently contains nine described species. Paratymolus apeli n. sp. is described herein, based upon a male from the Persian Gulf. The new species is close to Paratymolus hastatus Alcock, 1895, but can be distinguished from the all congeners by carapace characters and particularly by the unique morphology of the male first gonopod.
