Abstract
The expression of mRNA for chemorepellent factors slit1 and slit2 in rat peripheral nerve regeneration was examined. The mRNA of slit1 increased when the continuity of basal lamina tubes was disrupted, not when it remained and the Slit2 protein was located in Schwann cells. These results suggest that disruption of the continuity of basal lamina tubes induces the expression of slit2 in Schwann cells during peripheral nerve regeneration.
