Abstract

In this article we present an open source setup for measuring the acceleration due to gravity g utilising Faraday’s law of induction. The signal is acquired using an Arduino Uno board, then displayed and analysed using a Python based graphical user interface. The acceleration due to gravity g is calculated by measuring the crossing times of a bar magnet as it falls simultaneously through a number of coils.
