Abstract

Inorganic and organic polymer systems with metallic properties are reviewed and the physics and chemistry of the lightly conducting systems are described, ranging from the inorganic (SN)//x to organic materials such as (CH)//x, polypyrrole and polyphenylenes. As it would be very difficult in a single chapter to adequately review the already extensive literature on these materials, a coherent overview is presented of the current status of highly conductive polymers and the interested reader is referred to several review articles for a more extensive survey of the literature.
