Abstract
The purpose of this article is to describe the development of HERS - Resources Environment Family . Based on an ecological development , assesses the RAF family environment resources that can contribute to student learning in the elementary school years , in three areas: resources that promote proximal processes ; activities that signal stability in family life , parenting practices that promote family-school connection . A review of research using the RAF indicates acceptable levels of internal consistency , as well as association between HERS scores and indicators of achievement and adjustment . Rides , toys and books , as well as opportunities to interact with parents at home, were all related to good school performance and adjustment. Although further studies are needed to validate and reliability , inventory has been a useful tool for researchers and can be used by professionals working in clinical and educational contexts .
