Abstract
The number and nature of foetal movements (FM) throughout pregnancy are reviewed. Different factors (urineoestriol, bloodsugar) and investigations (ultrasound, amniocentesesis, sound) which can influence the FM during the pregnancy are discussed. Special interest is attached to the evaluation of FM together with cardiotocography (CT) as a non-stress method for predicting the condition of the foetus during the following week. The employment of FM registration as an additional antenatal screening for foetal well-being, especially during abnormal pregnancies, is suggested.
