Abstract

Some 300 practical and theoretical entries, covering such diverse topics as academic advising, hostile work environment, mentoring, and pay for performance reward systems. Organized in 10 themes: theoretical perspectives on careers, social context of careers, evolution and development of careers, decision making and career development, variations in career patterns and success, career development initiatives, legislative and regulatory mandates, assessment areas and techniques, job search and organizational recruiting, and professional associations. Entries range from 1–6 pages in length, giving background and analysis on topics. Written for students, academics, and practitioners.
