Abstract

A computer program, Switch, is presented that permits simultaneous use of monochrome- and color-graphics adapters with an IBM personal computer (PC). It enables one to write graphics instructions in BASIC on the monochrome monitor and to display the output on a color monitor connected to a color/graphics card. The program is described and two listings are given: one permits 45 lines of code to be keyed-in; the other is a sample application that creates a flowchart to illustrate Switch. The color graphics display produced by this application is also shown. In addition to developing graphics applications, Switch can be used to edit output from a number of commercially available graphics packages that provide output in the form of BASIC files. Such files can be enhanced or modified to suit personal needs.
