Abstract

Within the frame of the common research program of the Tatabánya Coal Mines, and the Research Institute for Water Resources Development, Budapest, the possibilities of using certain methods of engineering geophysics in prospecting for ground-water were investigated. In the first part of the present work our knowledge concerning the ground-water table and the sceleton structure of the ground are systematized, then the results of experimental measurements conducted on the basis of considerations discussed in the first part are illustrated to affirm our assumption, that in sandy areas the ground-water level can be revealed first of all by seismic refraction measurements. The present work deals with our principal considerations and demonstrates several actual results of the series of our experiments. © 1970 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
