Abstract

This article expects to validate a self-perceived competences related to information literacy questionnaire. The sample consists of 1422 students of secondary education, form Palencia, Valladolid and Soria. We also contrasted the influence of the parent’s level of studies on the scores of the dimensions that conform the informational competence construct. The final instrument is composed by 18 items, divided by 4 dimensions. Cronbach’s alpha is .887, and the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) shows that all the item loadings have an acceptable index. In relation to the group comparisons, evidences show the higher is the parent’s level of studies, the higher self-perception have their kids. In conclusion, this scale contributes to give guarantees to the educational professionals of the high schools in order to measure the level of self-perceived informational competences among their students.
