Abstract

A new randomised controlled trial suggested that plasma exchange hastened removal from the ventilator in mechanically ventilated children with Guillain-Barré syndrome compared with intravenous immunoglobulin. Two larger trials in adults showed the opposite result. © 2011 BioMed Central Ltd.
