The old church of Our Lady of the Rosary in the city of Embu das Artes (SP) is one of the most important artistic and architectural documents remaining from the activities of the Society of Jesus in colonial Brazil. The building and its collection were listed in 1938 by the Historical and Artistic Heritage Service (Sphan) and, despiteits relevance, few works have been dedicated to forming the site and the collection of the church, now on exhibition at the Jesuit Museum of Sacred Art. This text intends to trace the history Jesuit settlement of Mboy as part of a mission of the Society of Jesus, and provide some elements on the constitution and preservation of this cultural heritage.
