Abstract

This theoretical essay appertaining to a historical and conceptual review, investigates music education as a pedagogical field in Brazil. In the interest of developing analyses of pedagogical conceptions and ideas from scientific works as well as the pedagogical practice of teachers, we carried out a theoretical study and conceptual review on pedagogical concepts in the field of education in the areas of art and music education. Based on content analysis, we compared several of these foundations in the context of theoretical production and developed descriptions of the historical and social constitution of pedagogical concepts that influence the field of music education in Brazil. As a result, we present tables, images and syntheses that describe and bring together the pedagogical concepts relating to the field of education within the areas of art and music education.
