Abstract

Mayacaceae is a small family of monocots composed by the only one genus Mayaca, with five species. In Serra dos Carajás, we found three of the four species recorded to South America: Mayaca fluviatilis, M. kunthii, and M. longipes. This study presents descriptions, illustrations, and morphological comments for these species.
