In this paper we study one of the less successful whaling operations among all activities that took place in magellanic waters: the expeditions conducted by captain "Adolfus" Andresen in Western Patagonia between 1933 and 1935. The materials studied are a set of 58 texts of different nature and extent, appearing between December 1933 and February 1936 in the newspaper El Magallanes, from Punta Arenas. In each of these texts there is data which constitutes a very rich corpus of information that allows knowing with enough detail this "new" whaling operation on the Chilean coast. From the study of this whaling operation, we expected to contribute to increase our knowledge of the whaling culture in Chile, its main features and different traditions that played in their construction.
