Abstract
An educacional video from The Monash University Accident Research Centre inspires a Kinematics problem proposition with a counter-intuitive result. The problem solution must have alleged knowledge on maximum possible acceleration in emergency braking, as well as the spent interval between the perception of the collision danger by the driver and the beginning of the effective braking. The intuitive answer of an engineer and various Physics undergraduated students is discussed. The problem illustrates that Physics teaching can and must involve rich and interesting conceptual situations, opposed to the repetitive and irrelevant questions that are found in textbooks.
