Abstract

Numerous studies and clinical experiences have underlined the therapeutic potential of biofeedback, although the method is not without its critics. Biofeedback has various advantages: it employs learning psychology and behavioural medicine, objectifies physiological processes, improves the motivation of many patients, and sharpens perception of the body's natural processes. Given the present level of research, biofeedback is indicated (within an overall therapy plan) particularly in tension headache, migraine and neuromuscular disorders. This method is also ideal for relaxation therapy.
