Abstract

The present paper redefines the genus Cataxia Rainbow, redescribes the female and describes the male of Cataxia maculata Rainbow, synonomises C. tetrica Rainbow and Pulleine and Arbanitis inornatus Rainbow and Pulleine with C. maculata and describes three new species. Natural history observations are reported, affinities of the genus Cataxia and significance of its distribution suggested and the effect of stock‐grazing on its survival discussed.
