Sustainability in projects: An analysis of relevant sustainability aspects in the project management process based on the three pillars model

Abstract

Project management and sustainability are two concepts which increase in popularity constantly. The concept of sustainability has to be integrated throughout a company and therefore has to be considered during the whole process of project management. In order to anchor the concept of sustainability in a project it is necessary to focus on ecological, social and economic aspects. The creation and implementation of such an integrated management approach will lead to the creation of additional value for companies. This paper discusses the potential of incorporating sustainability in project management. © 2011 WIT Press.
