Abstract

Objective: To analyze factors associated with the type of leprosy reaction in Espírito Santo. Method: Case control study in individuals notified by leprosy in the System of Information of Notifiable Diseases between 2008 and 2017 and that presented leprosy reaction during the treatment. Case is when it developed type 2 reaction and Control, type 1. Odds Ratio and Adjusted Odds Ratio were calculated. Results: Were included 1.363 individuals, 21.3% of type 2 and 78.7% of type 1 patients. That ones with type 2 reactions were more likely to be non-white, to reside in a medium HDI municipality and to be multibacillary. Conclusions: There is influence of the socioeconomic condition in the reactional type, however, there is no evidence off racial factors. Understand and considerer these factors can contribuite to adherence to treatment of leprosy in Brazil. Keywords:
