Abstract

In this paper, a 28-GHz dual 2 2 U-slot air substrate patch antenna array for 5G application is proposed. The idea of the U-slot antenna was applied in the patch antenna design which intended to decrease the antenna size. The structure of the U-slot patch antenna comprises a patch, two slots of U-shape, a ground plane, and coaxial feed lines. The proposed configuration of 2 x 2 U-slot array shows a high gain. With an extra U-slot, the proposed antenna yielded a bandwidth of about 3.93 GHz, the maximum gain of 14.5 dBi in the yz-plane, and performance efficiency of 85.82 %
