Abstract
This study aims to determine the levels of oxalic acid based on the elevation at Talas Beneng or beneng taro (Xanthosoma undipes K.Koch), both of which grow wild and have been cultivated. This is done in order to provide good treatment and the right to a place or a growth medium to lower levels of oxalic acid in beneng taro. The results showed that: (1) the levels of oxalic acid taro beneng that grow wild greatly influenced by elevation, or in other words a significant effect on the levels of oxalic acid taro beneng that grows wild. This is evident from the levels of oxalic acid taro beneng derived from District juhut (2 891.03 ppm) lower than Cilaja (6 224.09 ppm), in which the sampling points of the Village juhut higher than Cilaja, which is located at an altitude of 600-800 m asl compared to 400-600 m above sea level; (2) the levels of oxalic acid beneng taro cultivation results are not influenced by elevation, or in other words the elevation has no significant effect on levels of oxalic acid beneng taro cultivation. This is evident from oxalic acid levels beneng cultivated taro comes from District juhut (1 903.72 ppm) is higher than the Pandeglang (1 670.06 ppm). This is caused by factors of farming (management) taro beneng done. Based on field survey found that: (a) fertilizer management in Sub Pandeglang taro beneng performed using goat droppings as the application of organic matter, while in Sub juhut using the litter as the application; (B) the intensity of fertilization taro beneng conducted in the village of Pandeglang more intensive than juhut; (C) harvesting is closely related to the maximum starch content, which also determines the lace high oxalic acid content of beneng taro. The longer the harvest age, the levels oksalatnya lower, and vice versa
