Abstract

The suppository preparation, which can improve the absorption of poorly absorbable drugs safer than commercially available suppositories, was developed by utilizing sodium laurate and taurine. Additionally, the novel oral absorption-improving system was also established by utilizing polyamines and bile acids. Furthermore, to evaluate the efficacy of these new formulations and estimate the absorbability of new drug candidates in humans, the in vitro prediction system utilizing an isolated human intestinal tissues was developed and successfully predicted the fraction of dose absorbed for several model drugs. These findings would contribute to the development of new dosage forms and new drugs for oral administration. © The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
