Abstract

We found flipped classes benefit autonomously motivated students who can self-select such courses. Yet, students whose psychological contracts are violated due to unclear expectations or motivational profiles that do not “fit” a flipped course, experience pitfalls. Overall, benefits of flipped classes outweigh drawbacks if students have clear expectations for such classes.
