Abstract
In the present study, Ni-P-CS composite coating was prepared on Q235 carbon steel surface by electroless plating method. Candle soot (CS) is the soot produced by incomplete combustion of candles, and it is mainly composed of amorphous carbon and carbon nanoparticles. The results show that: the results indicated that the corrosion resistance of the Ni-P deposit improved with the incorporation of candle soot (CS). The electrochemical test of Q235 carbon steel, Ni-P and Ni-P-CS with 3.5% NaCl solution was performed at room temperature. The test results show that the protection efficiency of the new coating (Ni-P-CS) reaches 78.5%. Compared with the Ni-P coating with the protection efficiency of 47.08%, its corrosion resistance increased by 31.42 percentage points. This study demonstrates for the first time that Ni-P-CS composite coating is a feasible method for metal corrosion prevention, with inexpensive raw materials and easy preparation. It provides a novel idea for petroleum, chemical and other metal anticorrosion fields.
