Abstract
The article describes the important role played by Central Asia, especially Uzbekistan, in the history of medieval Islamic mathematics. It deals with the history of the manuscript and book collections of the Bukhara library and outlines the relevant research work on this subject that has been written in Russian by scholars of the former Soviet Union. © 1993 Academic Press.
