Abstract
Solar photovoltaic thermal (SPVT) systems are widely used for simultaneous production of electricity and utilization of thermal energy for various environmental applications. Various engineering materials such as nanoparticles, variable phase change materials, individually or in combination are used to absorb the heat from the SPVT systems. The more the absorption of heat, the better the performance of the systems. The use of nano engineered materials in SPVT systems enhances the heat transfer rate, optimize the cooling effect and thereby increases the performance of the systems. The performance enhancement of SPVT systems using nano engineered materials and its various applications will have a significant impact on clean and green environment. This paper presents a comprehensive review on the application of engineering materials to improve the performance of the SPVT systems. It also discussed the recent trends, challenging and future scope for enhancing the performance of SPVT systems.
