Abstract

This paper proposed an optimal control scheme for pH neutralization process based on fractional order PID (FOPID) controller. In order to enhance the stability of the outlet-pH as well as minimize the consumption of chemicals, the design of the controller is transformed into a discrete nonconvex optimization problem and solved by the state transition algorithm. Furthermore, a comparative study between the fractional order PID and PID controllers is carried out. And considering the practical application, the disturbance from the inlet-flow-rate change and inlet-pH change was also investigated. The simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed strategy.
