Abstract

Measurement of ethno racial diversity and segregation in urban space has focused in applying indexes that provide information about the distribution and concentration of the population of differente nationalities. However these indexes do not analyze the psychosocial influence on the host society, factor to be considered for a proper managing diversity. In this direction the perceived aloctonía´s index has been developed with the aim of starting off the socio-spatial subjectivity of the receiving society regarding the foreign population to determine those areas of the city where diversity management policies would be recommended. This analysis which has already been carried out in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Seville, has shown how despite the indicated the low values offered by traditional residential segregation indexes there are wide areas of these cities where diversity management would be advisable with hardly has intervention of public administrations.
