Abstract
The procedure is based on estimating 'success' probabilities (P) for each species to be planted. These estimates can then be related to future stocking contributions 1) by the reciprocal of P, which expresses the number of planted trees required to obtain, on the average, one successful tree; and 2) by the expected future utilization of growing space (expressed as percent stocking) based on estimates of P, expected future mean diameters of successful trees, and available tree area equations.-from Authors
