Abstract

A novel durable electrode catalyst of Pt/Ketjen black decorated with SnO2 nanoparticles (Pt/SnO2-KB) was prepared for polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). The particle size of SnO2 and Pt in the catalyst is ca. 10 nm and 2 nm, respectively. The activity of Pt/SnO 2-KB for oxygen reduction reaction is almost same as that without SnO2; on the other hand, the durability as the cathode is excellent.
