Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about vulva hygiene and restriction during childbirth with the healingperiod of a perineal woundin postpartum mothersat a Maternaland Child Hospital Purwokerto. Methods: The design in this study wasa descriptive correlation with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study were 34 respondents recruited using convenience sampling technique. Data were analyzedusing a Chisquare test. Results: The results in this study showed that the majority of espondents had good knowledge (55.9%), did not have food restrictions (61.8%), had behavior restrictions (64.7%) and had rapid perineal wound healing (55.9%). Chi-square test results showed that there were significant relationships between the level of knowledge about vulva hygiene and restrictions during postpartum with the long healing of postpartum maternal perineal wound with a value (p <0.05). Conclusions: There were significant relationships between the level of knowledge about vulva hygiene and restrictions during postpartum with the perineal wound healingamong postpartum mothers.
